This morning it was all about hose work at the station. While a crew did the annual pressure test on a number of hoses, the Captain continued on with installation of a watering system for the flagpoles garden, and we had external taps installed to the workshop.
Firefighting hoses are progressively tested aftee they are used at incidents and at training. We then catch up with any hoses not tested during the year. We follow a strict process during the hose testing due to the pressures involved.
We are very grateful to local plumber, Wayne, who donated his time and skills plus materials to install two taps between the station building and workshop. One outlet is for the garden watering system and the other will enable people dropping off containers to rinse their hands.
In addition to all this, the normal vehicle and equipment checks were conducted and the meeting room and kitchen got a huck out.
Afterwards, we were spoilt with ham, cheese and tomato toasted sangas.
