This morning we achieved realisation of a long term goal with two thermal imaging cameras (known simply as TICs) placed in service; one for each of our appliances.
We are very grateful to FRRR, the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal, for their generous financial support. In addition, the Buxton Progress Association supplemented the FRRR grant with additional funding from the Buxton 3711 Community Fund. Together, these fabulous organisations fully funded the project.
The TICs will greatly assist the work we do by helping locate hot spots when extinguishing vegetation fires or when undertaking structural firefighting operations. In preparation for the arrival of the TICs, a number of our newer members completed the TIC training course. We also have a number of structural firefighters qualified to use this technology as part of dealing with building fires.
They will also be available to assist other brigades throughout the Triangle and Alexandra Group along with other organisations such as the SES Marysville Unit.
