Buxton Fire Brigade

Community Engagement

A key focus of the brigade is making Buxton a Safer Place in line with CFA’s mission to protect lives and property. We focus on fire prevention and preparedness activities to reduce risks to people.

The brigade has a dedicated Community Engagement Officer who is responsible for working with the District 12 Community Safety Coordinator. Each year, along with the other brigades in the Alexandra Group of Brigades, we submit a Community Engagement Plan to CFA for endorsement.

That plan is our guide to what activities we undertake throughout the year. It identifies what areas the brigade considers to be key bushfire risks, residential risks, and other local risks such as our community assets, and businesses. We develop our local treatments from this plan; such as the preplans for key structural risks in our area, participating in the Residential Smoke Alarm program for vulnerable people, supporting the Out-of-School program at Buxton Primary School, and planning bushfire education activities.

A copy of our current Community Engagement Plan is available (PDF) and we are always happy to receive your feedback on the plan.
