Buxton Fire Brigade

Supporting Community

The brigade actively supports the Buxton Progress Association as the local residents’ group. We provide updates to their meeting regarding the activities of the brigade or when we desire their input to Community Safety initiatives; such as the Community Engagement Plan or Vegetation Management Plan.

The brigade also works with Murrindindi Shire Council’s emergency management team and provides input to the Municipal Emergency Management Committee via the Alexandra Group representatives.

The brigade is able to lobby Council for fire access track improvements and fuel reduction measures within the township (in addition to nominations through Safer Victoria). It is not uncommon for these measures to be advised to the brigade by residents through the Buxton Progress Association. Example of this work include provision of an access gate to the Buxton Waters Estate reserve off Steavenson Road and, in 2023, reduction of unmanaged vegetation and dangerous trees along Maroondah Highway, north of Seal Rock Road.
